Zyprexa is a brand name for olanzapine.
USE:
Zyprexa is used for the treatment of acute mania with bipolar disorder. Usual dose is 5-20 mg a day. Blood-level monitoring is not needed.
SIDE EFFECTS:
From Surviving Manic Depression:
weight gain (worse if combined with lithium or Depakote), somnolence, dizziness, dry mouth.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE:
It works to calm anxiety and to help relieve insomnia. When taken intermittently, hard tremors and shaking were present. Occasionally, fine tremor or psychological tremors were present the day after taking it.
