snow day activities
Look around for interesting animal tracks and see if you can guess what animal made them. If you're feeling really curious, go get a book from the library to help you investigate.
Paint the snow: fill spray bottles with colored water, set on mist setting, and color the yard.
Make edible art: grab bags of multi-colore bird seed, fresh vegtables, anything animal edible and draw pictures on the snow with them. Fun way to be creative and help hungry wildlife (try watching out of the window latr to see who comes to eat).
Scuplt a snow zoo: turtles, lions, sea lions, anything you can think of. A nice change from the standarded snowmen shape.
Make a snow fort or lawn furniture.
Don't forget to have hot chocolate or a hot lunch to warm back up. Take breaks often to keep from getting too cold and be sure to drink enough water. If you have a fireplace, throwing snow gear near it while your inside makes for a nice treat when putting them back on to head out again.
